Daily life in social isolation: ‘I even use Skype to play hide and seek’
Freelance photographer Amber Leijen is studying Arts and Culture and shares an appartment with her boyfriend and her dog. To get through social isolation she uses inventive solutions, like an ironing board as a desk to follow lectures in bed and playing hide and seek with her niece through Skype.

In the morning, my boyfriend and I continue to wear our chill outfits a little longer. Nobody will see it anyway. We also suddenly have time to have breakfast together.

We have quite a small appartment, so when he has a conference call I use our 'ironing board desk' to follow a lecture in bed.

Finally, time for chores around the house. The windows needed to be cleaned urgently.

To be able to chat with my niece in times of isolation, I now use Skype more often. We even use it to play hide and seek. My sister hides the phone and my niece searches for me while I give directions to the hiding place through the phone. Fun guaranteed!

I live in a shopping street that is a lot busier usually. But now I can walk the dog in peace.
