Risk of Polak Building roof being dislodged because of storm
The Erasmus Plaza in front of the Foodcourt and the Polak building are being cordoned off because of the risk of the Polak building roof being dislodged. Other reports of storm damage include parasols being blown away from the Pavilion and scaffolding which is now leaning against a building on Van der Mandeleplein.

Security staff are preventing students from entering the Plaza. The Polak building roof may be dislodged due to the storm. According to Frank Kuiper from the University Support Centre, the roofs of several other buildings are also being monitored. “Something is loose on the Sanders building, among other things. We are monitoring the situation very closely.”
At the Erasmus Pavilion, the metal tube of a parasol broke this morning. Another parasol is floating in the wild waters of the campus pond. A third parasol is holding up.

The scaffolding on K.P. van der Mandeleplein has suffered some damage. One of the pieces of scaffolding has fallen against the bridge between the Erasmus Building and Tinbergen. Some wooden boards have also been dislodged.
On Institutenlaan in particular, many cyclists were terrorised by the wind. More lightweight students had to hold on to lampposts to prevent themselves from being blown away.
