Court rules in favour of university in UL furniture case

Erasmus University does not have to repeat the tendering procedure for the university library furniture. The court reached this decision in preliminary relief proceedings instituted against EUR by a party competing for the contract.
EUR opted for supplier Ahrend. Facilitylinq, a competing supplier, contested EUR’s decision. Facilitylinq wanted to have the matter reviewed because it was of the opinion that it had been unjustly rejected as a competing party. The court did not share this opinion.
The ruling means that EUR does not have to repeat the tendering procedure. The opening of the modernised university library was delayed by the preliminary relief proceedings. As a result of the court’s ruling, however, the delay will remain limited and the opening will probably take place in May. Students will be able to start using the 900 additional study spaces before the end of the academic year.
