Are you an EUR student gifted with writing talent? Take part in our columnist competition!
EM is looking for a new student columnist. Do you think you write entertaining columns and would you like to write about your life as a student for a year? Then enter our columnist competition and who knows, your column could appear here every month!

You can choose the subject of your column yourself, as long as there is a connection to the university or student life. Whether you write about the smell coming from your housemate’s room, the quality of your lecturers, graduation stress or nocturnal adventures in Rotterdam, it doesn’t matter. As long as it is well written, bold and humorous.
A jury will judge the columns, paying particular attention to humour, power of observation and linguistic flair. The jury consists of Lenya Slierendrecht, science programme-maker at Studium Generale and avid reader, outgoing EM columnist Giselle Maria Timmers and editor-in-chief Wieneke Gunneweg. This year, Timmers won the award for best column in higher education media for her column Shirtless in a newly built kitchen.
The winner will become a columnist for erasmusmagazine.nl and write a column every four weeks during the current academic year. You will be paid for your columns and receive writing guidance from an experienced senior editor.
Send your 300 to 500-word column by Thursday 10 September to [email protected]. Please also include your CV and a brief motivation.
