Group of EUR students infected with coronavirus
According to the GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond, between ten and twenty students in Rotterdam have contracted coronavirus. This is a ‘cluster’ of students mainly from Erasmus University.

A cluster means that the infections are related, but they may not have occurred in the same place. Contact tracing is still continuing, so the number of infections may rise considerably among students, says the GGD.
The virus was probably contracted at various places, such as parties, barbecues, outdoor drinks and sports. The GGD is aware of at least two ‘social gatherings’ where students were infected. For privacy reasons, the GGD will not comment on the exact location.
Students do not always take the coronavirus measures seriously, says the GGD. “They may fail to observe the rules, and even if they do have symptoms, they are less likely to report them and they still take part in social gatherings.”

I hope the university makes a statement regarding this. Are they taking any extra measures regarding infected students? This already puts extra pressure on their planned actions for the upcoming semester. What will they do to prevent all students coming from different places to infect each other? Maybe masks should be mandatory at the campus.
