The Eurekaweek officially kicks off on Sunday, but the party really begins Monday morning: that’s when first-year students show up en masse at De Doelen on the Schouwburgplein.
The university, student associations and sports associations will introduce themselves to you, and you can count on hearing a motivational speech from Rector Magnificus Huib Pols.
Be a tourist in your own city
Following this visual spectacle, you’ll visit the Schouwburgplein. Take time to relax with your group while playing games and polishing off your lunch. During ‘Cruise the city’ you’ll play the role of tourist in your own city. Enthusiastic guides will show you the most beautiful parts of Rotterdam.
In the evening it’s time for your first dinner at a student association, followed by the first big party of the week: The Flying Dutchman. In the Maassilo, DJs such as The Happy Feelings, Buurman & Buurman, Levi Hamerslag and Daisy’s DJ will bring down the house.
More partying after eleven?
You don’t need to go to bed when the official programme finishes. You can head into the city, or keep on partying at one of the associations. They’ll pull out all the stops to put on a great party (and persuade you to become a member). At RSC/RVSV you’ll see Boef and Rutger Doornbos. RSG will feature Freddy Moreira and Vunzige Deuntjes. For SBMG you can go to Laurentius, and S.S.R has invited La Fuente and Billy the Kit for Monday night.
