The grand opening had already been postponed once due to difficulties obtaining a permit, but this Saturday it’s actually going to happen: Club Switch will open its doors in a former pill-manufacturing lab on Keileweg.

Club nights will be raw: loud techno, dub and house music, but in a gorgeous setting. Each month, artists will provide the club with new sets and decorations. Opening night will see the Eilandgasten DJs (David Vunk, Taras van de Voorde and Monica Electronica, among others) play.

Principles

Another great thing about the Club Switch people is the fact that they have principles in life. The men running Switch think it’s ridiculous that some places charge 3 euros for a beer, so all drinks served at Switch will cost 2 euros. Advance sale tickets are affordably priced as well, at 5 euros.

According to the hosts, Switch will be all about ‘the underground rave vibe, cheap drinks and partying with friends’. Unlike other clubs, Switch will not open every weekend, but rather it will throw one great party each month. Since the club is located in a former chemicals-manufacturing plant, this Saturday’s party will have an industrial look, with robots, machinery and other equipment.

If loud beats are not your cup of tea: Aloha Bar is hosting another Dansvoer night, Rotterdam’s own silent disco party, this weekend. On entering the place, you will be handed 3-channel headphones. There will be three DJs, and you’ll get to pick which one you’re going to listen to.
