(Lack of) diversity on campus

“It is important that we recognize that racism is an institutional problem that is present in the university. In every part of life in society. ” That’s what Jess Bier, assistant professor of Urban Sociology said in Erasmus TV. The university is still a white stronghold, and not enough is being done to change this, is increasingly the conclusion of discussions.

These associations have spoken out this year about the importance of diversity. The Chinese student association CSA-EUR and others wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Mark Rutte, because they do not feel heard Erasmus School of Colour wants a diverse and inclusive campus. Erasmus Pride is a new association. “It is important that Rotterdam has a good representation of LGBT + students”, said the chairman.
