Erasmus University staff member arrested for embezzlement
A member of staff from Erasmus University was arrested on Monday on suspicion of embezzling funds amounting to 22,000 euros. This has been confirmed by several sources to Erasmus Magazine.
Two non-uniformed officers arrested the man on campus on Monday afternoon and took him away in a car.
Contract ending
In November, an investigation was launched when irregularities were noted. The case concerns a staff member whose contract comes to an end soon. Using a bank card from his department, he is alleged to have transferred 22,000 euros from the university to other accounts. It is not clear how the man planned to use the money, or whether the money has been reclaimed.
The Public Prosecutor is currently investigating the case. While awaiting the result, the university has suspended the man. ES
