Water damage in E Building due to leaking coffeemaker

An issue with a coffeemaker in a kitchen on the ground floor of the E Building caused a minor catastrophe on the floor below. Last night, the device’s connection to the water mains started leaking, which eventually flooded the entire floor of the stockroom below.
This stockroom mainly contained items of the Education, Research and Student Affairs (OOS) unit. Several boxes have fallen apart after soaking up water all night. And staff could throw away the waterlogged carpet in the adjacent study.
The device’s mains connection has since been repaired. The E Building’s water supply had to be turned off for a short while due to the incident.
