No demonstration at the Dam, strikes can continue
Because there will be no trains running on Tuesday, the national demonstration against cuts to education will not go ahead. “We will come up with a new action after the summer, closer to the elections”, say the trade unions and activist groups.

Students and employees were on strike in Rotterdam in April.

The trade unions and activists wanted to voice their opposition to the government cuts in higher education and research at the Dam in Amsterdam on Tuesday. However, a train strike makes the capital poorly accessible.
Railway unions have called a strike of the NS staff in the Randstad due to a conflict over the new collective labour agreement. As a result, no trains will run across the country on Tuesday.
Strikes
“Of course, we fully support the right to strike and want to express our solidarity with the train strikers”, states a declaration from the trade unions FNV, AOb, and LSVb as well as activist groups 0.7 and WOinActie.
Staff at universities and universities of applied sciences are still allowed to strike on Tuesday. The trade unions confirm they are not rescinding the strike, they write. Therefore, teachers, researchers, other staff, and students still have the right to cease work or studies, even though the national demonstration will not take place.
