Board wants to keep all-gender toilets for now, despite U-council proposal

The Executive Board (EB) is awaiting a university-wide policy currently being developed by the IDEA Centre, the university’s diversity department. This is expected in the first quarter of 2026.
The University Council had submitted a proposal to the EB regarding all-gender toilets, which is open to anyone regardless of gender. The Executive Board has rejected the proposal and says it will first await the policy currently being drafted by the IDEA Centre. According to the Executive Board, the recommendations of all parties involved are being taken seriously and have already been shared with the IDEA Centre.
Although the University Council called for swift action, the university expects to be able to present a final policy in the first quarter of 2026. Until then, the all-gender toilets will remain as they are.
