Vote now for the Student of the Year 2024
Who will be the Student of the Year? Emma and Fleur, Mahika, Mohammed, Selda or Yasmine? The Student of the Year election is not about the highest grades. It is about a student who is selfless and socially engaged. Voting was possible until the morning of Monday 27 May.

We sum up the five finalists again in alphabetical order. These five, including one duo, were selected from the submissions by our jury.
On the day after the shooting, Fleur and Emma saw that many first-years were scared to go back to Erasmus MC. The students had just started their studies a few weeks before when the attack happened at the Education Centre. Fleur and Emma came up with the idea of starting a buddy programme for those who were struggling.

After witnessing the lives of children living below the poverty line in Myanmar, Mahika’s tireless initiatives in providing education opportunities for children led her to pursuing a degree in Management of International Social Challenges. Her passion for – and ability to – catalyse change gives her hope in providing quality education to children.

Mohammed is nominated as the Student of the Year because of his commitment to advocating for Palestine: he raises money, arranges scholarships for Palestinian students, organises talks and creates awareness about what is happening in his country. And he does all this next to his Medicine studies.

Selda has emerged as a point of contact for first-generation students over the past year. Selda was herself the first in her family to go to university. From her own experience, she learned that it can be lonely for this group at university; they’re often lacking a network. Therefore, she organised a successful alumni event especially for first-generation students.

Yasmine has been nominated for Student of the Year for her efforts to combat inequality of opportunity and for her positive contribution to society. She and the An-Nahl foundation – an organisation she founded herself – are committed to helping orphans and children who have fled their homes. Yasmine shows that every little step brings you closer to achieving your goal, as long as you keep believing in yourself.

Voting for the Student of the Year 2024 is no longer possible.
Why did we ask for your e-mail address? So we can monitor whether voting is conducted fairly. Your data will be deleted again after the election.
The online votes partly count towards the final result. Another round of voting will take place on 29 May, during the live show. You can register here to be there. The five judges will also cast a vote beforehand.
The winner will be announced during the live show at the Pavilion on 29 May.
