Art on campus: The living wall of Dick Elfers
Luuk Bode, artist himself and working for the art department, explains the aesthetic impact this piece has on the entire building. “The building contains a lot of concrete, a lot of glass and marble on the floor. It’s all very hard material. This wall is made of ceramics and it looks very soft. Not something you might notice immediately, but once you try to imagine this hall without it, I think you’ll see that you lose something in the atmosphere. “
Alive
Bode emphasises the liveliness of the piece of art. “The shades vary every day . When the sun gets very bright, the artwork becomes more yellow. During the gray days, some gradients become more subtle. It’s very much alive and different every day.”
