Amran nominated as ‘the embodiment of helpfulness’
Amran Mahamed (22) is known by her peers as positive and selfless. To make healthcare accessible to all, she accompanies migrants to their doctor’s appointments and organised lectures on treating people who are fasting. She also helps Somali children read, helped her student association Avicenna as vice-president and raised money for relief efforts in disaster areas.
As a child, Amran was inspired by a teacher who gave her books, now she wants to do the same for children in her community. Since studying, she has been trying to make healthcare more accessible. She does this by helping migrants as interpreters for their doctor’s appointments. She has also organised lectures, where medical students learned about Ramadan.
Amran tells more about herself in the video above.
