De oceaan gaat naar de haaien!

De EUR komt in actie tegen het verdwijnende oceaanleven

Maandag 8 juni is World Ocean Day! De gehele wereld staat dan in het teken van de oceanen. De Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam en de TU Delft organiseren ROTTERDAM WORLD OCEAN DAY 09, een groot publieks-event in de Aula van de Erasmus Universiteit.

In de namiddag zal de documentaire ‘The End of the Line’ naar het bekende boek van wetenschapsjournalist dr. Charles Clover in première gaan, met een introductie van de auteur zelf. Deze film gaat tijdens World Ocean Day wereldwijd in première.

’s Avonds zullen wereldberoemde sprekers hun visie geven over de toestand van de oceanen en de mogelijkheden die de oceanen bieden voor de mensheid en het hele planetaire ecosysteem. Met deelname van o.a. Fabien Cousteau (kleinzoon van de legendarische Jacques Cousteau) en Captain Paul Watson (oprichter van Greenpeace en Sea Shepherd).

The ocean is going down the drain!

The EUR takes action on behalf of the world oceans

Monday 8 June is World Ocean Day! All over the world scientists, politicians, policy makers, managers, students and the general public will get together to devote their attention to the largest body of water on our planet: the ocean. ROTTERDAM WORLD OCEAN DAY 09 is an initiative of Erasmus University Rotterdam and Delft University of Technology. Together they hope to make an appeal for action on behalf of the World Ocean.

In the late afternoon the première of the renowned film ‘The End of the Line’, based on the book by dr. Charles Clover, will be held, with an introduction by the author himself. This film will be launched worldwide on World Ocean Day.

In the evening a major event will be held in the auditorium of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Inspirational individuals associated with our ocean will take the stage. With, among others, Fabien Cousteau (grandson of the legendary Jacques Cousteau) and Captain Paul Watson (founder of Sea Shepherd and Greenpeace).
