Thursday on EM TV: Access to exams, students’ rights or unnecessary extra work for teachers?
A lot of students see it as a basic necessity: being able to view an exam they have sat. Not all study programmes provide full access. Student and University Council member Jasper Klasen wants students to always be able to see their own exams after they have taken them. The vice-dean of education at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB), Bram Steijn, disagrees with this.

Last year, Klasen went to the education court to be allowed to have a look at his medical exam. The highest student appeals judge ruled in his favour. Whereas Steijn sees too many disadvantages to full online access to these exams. The chance that examination questions will end up on the streets is too high. This means that students will learn these questions by heart instead of studying the actual subject matter. The extra workload for lecturers is another one of Steijn’s concerns.
We will discuss this at 9 a.m. on Thursday November 26th, live from the studio in the Polak building. The presenter is Feba Sukmana.
