Laila Kozarki wins EM columnists competition
Laila Kozarki, a third-year IBEB student, is the winner of Erasmus Magazine’s student columnist competition. From now on, Laila will write a column every four weeks about her life as a student in Rotterdam.
The jury was delighted with the large number of excellent entries but chose Laila as the winner because her column The devil’s trumpet stood out for its enthusiasm, vibrant language and surprising contrasts.
The 22-year-old economics student is originally from Indonesia but has moved thirteen times and lived all over the world, from Singapore to Enschede. She describes herself as ‘a big overthinker’ and hopes to draw inspiration for each new column from her wandering thoughts.
Although she is pursuing a degree aimed at a career in the financial sector, she also sees herself as a creative and artistic person. “But not good enough to make a living out of it”, she says, downplaying her own talent.
