G building closing: ‘It smells like my grandma’s house after she died’
The G building will close by the end of the year. Due to budget cuts, multiple buildings will be closed or demolished. Students will miss the study spots, but not the smell.
Many students are disappointed that the building will close, especially because of the the loss of study spaces. “The study spots are private, so it’s nice when studying for exams”, one student says. The G building is a favourite spot for studying. One student points out that ‘the library and Polak gets really busy, so it’s hard to find a spot’. For some, the building holds personal memories. A student ‘made many important decisions here’. “I had a breakup in this building.”
However, not everyone is nostalgic about the building. “The toilet always stinks”, one student complains. He blames it on the poor air ventilation caused by the doors always being closed. Another student agrees : “The building smells like my grandma’s house. After she died”, he says. Many students are happy the building will close. “The building feels creepy and has a bad aura”, one student says. Another student thinks that ‘it feels like a jail’.
