New video series ‘The only constant’: they keep student life running

The only constant

It’s not just students who keep Rotterdam’s student life going. Some people have been working tirelessly behind the scenes for years: the boatswain of Skadi, a chef who prepares weekly meals for a student association, or the manager of a large student complex.

Rob Venema has been taking care of the boats of Skadi for 26 years.

In a new video series, ‘The only constant’, EM follows these unsung heroes who, in their own way, are an indispensable part of Rotterdam’s student life. We shine a spotlight on the hard workers behind the scenes.

In the first episode, we followed Rob Venema. “He’s truly a household name at the club”, says a student about the boatswain of Skadi, who has been taking care of the over one hundred boats, ensuring that the 1,500 members of the club are able to row.
