According to the guide for prospective students, Medicine, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the joint degree in Clinical Technology — offered in collaboration with Leiden University and TU Delft — are among the top programmes in the Netherlands.
History excels, law lags behind
The History programme at EUR leads the national ranking with a score of 69 points. Students praise their lecturers and the safe environment of the programme. Students are also satisfied with the International Bachelor of Communication and Media and Nanobiology, both scoring 65 points.
On the other hand, Law and Tax Law fall far behind with scores of 39 and 36 points, respectively. The EUR law programme has faced poor ratings for some time; in 2020, it was even the lowest-rated programme in the Keuzegids. Law students are particularly critical of the way they are assessed and graded.
Utrecht takes the top spot
The Keuzegids divides universities into two categories: ‘broad’ and ‘other’. Broad universities offer a wider range of study programmes, while other universities provide a narrower selection.
Utrecht University has once again been ranked as the best broad institution in the Keuzegids this year. Radboud University has dropped one point but remains the second-best broad university. Leiden University has been displaced from third place by the University of Groningen. The two universities in Amsterdam remain at the bottom of the ranking.
In the ‘other’ category, Wageningen University now shares the top spot with the Open University, while Erasmus University takes the last position.
Based on a survey
For this edition, the Keuzegids editorial team based its findings on feedback from over 268,000 students who participated in the National Student Survey this spring. They rated their programmes on content, lecturers, assessment, atmosphere, and career preparation. Additional factors included the proportion of students advancing to the second year and the percentage graduating within four years.
