Sports day with a hangover: ‘I had one too many beers’
At Sports & Play on Wednesday of Eurekaweek, all the sports clubs showcase themselves. On the grounds of the PAC athletics club, you can spot two types of first-year students: those sprinting from one sport to another, and those who had a rough night and choose to collapse into lazy chairs.
A student stands in front of a long mat. “I feel fresh and fruity, despite the late night yesterday”, he says. He proves it by performing a forward roll followed by a cartwheel. At the Erasmus Extreme mat, two students don plastic sumo wrestling suits and try to knock each other to the ground. “Super fun to do!”, one of them says.
On the other side of the sports field, a group of students sits in the sun, sunglasses on, water in hand. “I’m taking it easy”, one student says as she sinks further into her chair. How hungover is she? “Well, pretty bad. I had one too many beers last night”, she laughs.
