Gala in the Laurenskerk: ‘The party of the year’
1300 students dance, chat and drink the night away in the Laurenkerk.
“It’s like the high-school prom I never had because of Covid,” says Iona. First- and second years are also present: “If the party is in such an elegant venue again, I will definitely come again next year.” Niklas says: “I’ve never danced in a church before, it’s amazing!”
To add to the ambience, the night started out with violinist playing modern hits and then a choir coming on stage before the DJ’s. “I don’t often sing in front of people. This might be the peak of my singing career”, Hendrik says.
The Erasmus Gala is a startup set up by the students Myouska and Max with over 5 collaborators. Myouska says: “There aren’t any parties where everyone, every Erasmian from any field of study, can come together. We hope the Erasmus Gala connects people.”
The theme of the night was Spring Tie. Frederik put a flower in his jacket pocket to stick with the theme: “I lost my initial flower on the way here. I found this one in a bush behind the church.”
