Campus poet Will Makin: Distant land
Take me to a distant land
Where on Earth I’m lost and found.
A place where the sea is always blue
And I can call to natures sound.
Take me to a distant land
That feels to me, unknown.
Of beach and sand that’s new to me
But a place that I call home.
Take me to a distant land,
Where life just seems so slow.
That the burning paths and stairs of life
Don’t keep me high or low.
Because I’ve seen the tides rising by the shore,
That will soon sweep me if I am not alone.
So take me to a distant land,
A place that I call home.
