Campus poet Will Makin: Idle dreams
A single thought flies through the sky
That’s cursed to fraught my dying wish
Of open silence and closed eyes
So it seems to me that I might miss.
The chance to feel alive again
Or feel the force of sun’s region,
But next in line on my first stop
Is rest and time for this next block.
So I leave behind my tan and wish
But what to wish but this next day?
Was it so different from the future and yesterday?
Or is it something that I can miss?
And are my wishes so far from my dreams?
Those great fantasies of idle reams.
That leave me idle instead of free,
For they remind me of the things that I have never been.
So a single thought flies through the sky
That I will chase with all my reason,
Of when the past will pass in time
And I will feel some slight freedom.
