Falling and getting up in sport: ‘I almost got paralysed. Slay’
“Once I went to do the little cambalhota, a salto on the floor and my whole suit opened up, right on my butt. That was very traumatic”, says a freshman still covered in foam from the soap track. After the leotard incident, she always put on extra trousers for matches as well as training sessions.
Hockey turns out to be a very dangerous sport, according to another soap track participant’s story. Sticks and balls caused scars near or just above eyes. “This week, I have had a headache a few times. Don’t know if that’s still from a headbutt. I am not sure.”
Not that rhythmic gymnastics is any less dangerous, says another student. “I was 11 or 12, doing a flip on a wooden thing and I broke my neck. I almost got paralysed. Slay“, she laughs about the story now.
