Wilte (21) was a friendly, smart and decisive student who was close to obtaining his master’s degree. He was working on his thesis and making plans for the future.
Dirk Schindler, who taught a course and a seminar Wilte attended this year, remembers him as a dedicated student. “Wilte was not the first to speak out but always had very good comments and contributions. He did a very good and convincing job in defending his group’s policy paper in our seminar. I am truly shocked about this unexpected news. Everyone who met Wilte will miss him.”
His fellow students and friends Anne, Jasper, Jair and Jeroen remember Wilte as a sociable and witty person. “Wilte was a good-natured, sociable, intelligent guy and so much more. A smile on your face was guaranteed when you spent time with Wilte, but there was always room for good conversation as well. His sharp and witty remarks made it a pleasure to hang out with him. Even during the most boring lectures, it was enjoyable with him. He was always serious about studying, but with a smile on his face. That smile looked very good on him and we will never forget it. Wilte, we will miss you.”
Our deepest sympathy goes out to Wilte’s parents, his brother, family, friends and fellow students. We wish them all a lot of strength in this very difficult time.
A memorial room has been created in the E-building, room EB-12. There will be a condolence book available for anyone who wants to leave a message. The room will be open from 12.00 – 16.00 on Monday to Friday until 25 June.
