Thursday at 9 o’clock: EMTV about cosmetic surgery
Guest will be Anne-Mette Hermans, lecturer and researcher at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC). She researched the normalisation and marketing surrounding cosmetic surgery in London and received her PhD in 2019. Presentation by Feba Sukmana.
Hermans wrote her own book on the subject: Discourses of perfection. The consequences of the normalisation of cosmetic procedures are discussed in the broadcast. Should we be concerned? What role does social media have in this story? And do Snapchat filters cause us to undergo procedures more quickly?
Also in EMTV: another weekly news update and an exclusive interview with Instagram phenomenon @sheepwithsign. Students sent in their questions and the sheep answered them.
EM TV: EM’s weekly news update, live from the TV studio in the Polak Building. News, background information, human interest, we keep you up to date with everything that’s going on at Erasmus University. Every Thursday morning at 9.00 am live on Facebook, Youtube and on our website. Presenters are alternately Tessa Hofland and Feba Sukmana.
