Minister leaves decision about student loans to new cabinet

Nevertheless, she feels that the GroenLinks proposal to give all 18-year-olds ten thousand euros is bizarre. “Imagine having debt-ridden, unemployed parents and having to explain to them that you need those ten thousand euros for your own future.”
Whatever the parties do with the loan system, Van Engelshoven feels that the extra money must be spent on higher education. “We wanted to invest in higher education and the urgency to do so is still present.”
