Many EUR students with a poor Internet connection or no webcam

According to a University Council survey among around a thousand EUR students, one in five students has a poor to very poor Internet connection. The Council is concerned that not all students are able to make full use of online learning.

The survey, which was mainly completed by students from Erasmus School of Economics, Rotterdam School of Management and Erasmus School of Law, shows that 17 percent say they have a fairly poor connection, while 2 percent have an extremely poor connection.

Home exams

Furthermore, according to the survey 18 percent of students do not have a webcam, a requirement for many online exams. At Erasmus University College, 22 exams were taken during which the students were recorded throughout the entire exam.

If the university is able to restart physical lectures sooner than expected, many of the students will need to ensure that they return quickly. 19 percent are currently abroad, according to the survey.

Toilet visit

In the survey, students mention their concerns about privacy, cheating fellow students and exams being harder than normal. They are also uncertain about the situation regarding toilet visits during exams.

936 students took part in the survey, although 4883 students were approached.
