On Tuesday, three Dutch students were buried under an avalanche during a winter sports holiday in the French Alps. Two of them died, one other is still missing.
The trio were part of a group of twenty students from Nijmegen University’s Christian student association, NSN. They were all enjoying a short week’s winter sports holiday, the Gelderlander announced.
Dangerous area
The three students were snowboarding off-piste in a particularly dangerous area near Grenoble, renowned for the danger of avalanches.
The alarm was sounded late, as a result of which the body of the 22 year old snowboarder was not found until Tuesday evening. The second victim was found Wednesday afternoon. The search is still going on for the other student.
