Jeffrey is mad about parties, Esmeralda is always looking for unusual happenings and Manon loves culture. Every two weeks, they give you the best tips for a great day or evening out in Rotterdam.
Jeffrey’s tip: Rotterdamse Rave: Elements Showcase
The leaves have now fallen from the trees and we can now start discussing your party plans for the festive season. Do you have a slightly obscure side and don’t mind looking like Gollum emerging from his famous cave? Then Rotterdamse Rave: Elements Showcase on 23 December is the party for you! With its balanced mix of good sound, great visuals and basic location (Factory 010), it promises to be an evening of rave perfection. So treat yourself to this great Christmas gift for just 17.50 euros and maybe we’ll see you there!

Esmeralda’s tip: Sfeerhoreca Rotterdam’s Passe-Partout
Sfeerhoreca’s Passe-Partout on 31 December 2016: six parties for just 20 euros, what’s not to like? So if you’d like to dive into the nightlife in Rotterdam, this is for you. Beurs, the VIP Room, George Club & Drink, Get Back, the Vrienden Live and the Après Skihut, you can try them all. And obviously, anyone who’s sober would avoid that last one, but admit it: the best stories end there. I’ve also heard good things about the VIP Room, so I’d check that out too. Tickets can be bought in advance on the sites of the cafés mentioned and if there are any left, they’ll be sold at the door. However, I know from experience that the crowds at the door are horrific, so be quick.

Manon’s tip: J.A. Deelder’s Beelder in the Kunsthal
If you were to describe someone as the most typical Rotterdammer, who would that be? I say Jules Deelder! If that doesn’t ring any bells, would it help if I told you that he’s the Night Mayor of Rotterdam? But also the man who advertised Robijn with his slogan what’s black has to stay black. Despite the fact he always wears black, this born and bred Rotterdammer makes incredibly colourful pictures. For a year and a half, the poet collected all kinds of things: from cocktail stirrers to straws and toothbrushes. He then glued them together to make crazy creations and you can see them soon in the Kunsthal. On Saturday 17 December at 3.00 p.m., Jules Deelder will open his exhibition himself: Beelder …van J.A. Deelder. With your student card, you can get in for 6 euros and if you have a Rotterdam pass or Museum Card, it’s free. You can obviously visit the other exhibitions too. It’s the Christmas holidays, so you’ve got plenty of time!
