I AM: Nhi Ngo

She is Nhi Ngo, she is 21 and she is studying Business Administration. “My parents are originally from Vietnam, but I was born in Alkmaar.”
Style: “I would describe my style as very casual. I usually wear a t-shirt, jeans and a pair of sneakers. Usually black or white. I like to dress very comfortably, very ‘down-to-earth’. On top of that I’d throw a big coat, like this one I am wearing today. When I moved to Rotterdam to study, I noticed people tend to dress up. That is not really my thing, although sometimes I like to wear a playsuit or something more put together. What I like about Rotterdam is that you can wear anything you like without feeling judged or stared at. I definitely feel freer to express myself. That is what happens in Alkmaar or smaller cities in general. If I had to pick only one item from my closet, I would pick a long-sleeves striped shirt. I must admit I have a thing for stripes.”

Favourites: “Dance is a big passion of mine. I have been dancing since I was a child. Hip hop is my favourite style, I started taking lessons when I was 11 years old in Alkmaar. Hip hop is also my preferred music genre, but I listen to a lot of R&B music too. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to dance anymore, university is really demanding, and at the moment I am focusing on my studies. Eating out is also something that I enjoy very much. My favourite food is Indian, I could eat curry all the time. Of course Vietnamese cuisine has a special place in my heart. Every time I go back to Alkmaar, my parents cook Vietnamese dishes for me. Yet, Indian dishes are still my favourites.”
Future:“I see myself working in the technology field. I am studying business, but I have a real passion for technology. I would like to work with the internet, I like its fast pace and its modernity. I think I would be happy working in the e-commerce field too. I am going on exchange to Taiwan this fall, I chose the university because of its combination of business and more technology-oriented courses. The delicious food I am planning to eat there is a plus! I think my passion for technology stems from my father. When I was younger you would always see him fiddling around and fixing computers, that is how I got into technology.
