Why is it so difficult to make it as a woman in the men’s world of metal? Only 3 percent of the metal artists are women.
In Studio Erasmus, cultural sociologists Pauwke Berkers and Julian Schaap talk about their new book Gender Inequality in Metal Music Production. Why are there hardly any female metal artists? Where does metal get its masculine image from? And is this a bad thing?
