Ferry between Kralingen and Feijenoord in use
Between Kralingen and Feijenoord there is a ferry for cyclists and pedestrians since Monday: ideal for employees and students who come to the university from South.
From now on, you don’t have to take a detour to arrive at the other side of the Maas with your bike: on April 14th, a new ferry for cyclists and pedestrians was put in use at a stone’s throw distance (around 300 meters) from the Erasmus University. On working days the Waterbus, line 19, sails to and fro between the Plantagelaan (De Esch district, at the docks of rowing club Nautilus) and the Piekstraat (Persoonshaven, Rotterdam-Feijenoord). Within 8 minutes you arrive at the other side.
Shorter travel time
The new shore connection can shorten the travel time for students and employees who arrive at the university from South. Additionally, the ferry can be a substitute for the crowded Van Brienenoord bridge.
The new bike ferry connection Kralingen – Feijenoord is a project of at least three years and has as its main goal to contribute to a network of slow traffic between the two banks of the Nieuwe Maas.
| The Waterbus sails from Monday through Friday between 07.07h and 18.52h. You can pay with your OV student card, you OV chip card (one way €0,98) or you can get a separate ticket on board (one way €1, PIN not possible). The bike can come for free. From April 14th to 21st the crossing is free. From April 22nd to May 30th of 2014 you will only pay for the outward ticket and get the return trip for free.
