What type of student are you?

• It’s Wednesday during Eurekaweek and it’s getting late. The people in your group propose rounding off the evening in a club that stays open until dawn. What will you be doing?

You’re in!

You thank them, but bow out gracefully since the final train to your place is leaving in a moment.

You’re off to party, alright, but with your old friends whom you’ve known for years as a veteran of Rotterdam’s nightlife.

You decline the honour and head over to RSC on your own.

Actually, you’re already at home, since you’ve decided to read up for the pre-academic programme.

Eurekaweek? You’re still off holidaying somewhere far away.

• It’s 1 September, time for the first lecture of the year. Where can we find you in the hall?

Oops! You’ve overslept!

Oh no, your plane was delayed during the stopover in Dubai.

Out in front. That professor better prepare for some pointed questions.

In the back, so you can make a few calls without drawing attention to yourself. You never know what will pop up back at the office.

Surrounded by a gaggle of tittering students. You forgot to bring along your book, but that doesn’t dampen the fun.

You’re feeling a bit lonely. Since you missed Eurekaweek, you don’t know anyone – but that’s sure to sort itself out over time.

• How many years will it take you to round off your studies?

Three years. You don’t think a master degree is a prerequisite for a decent job.

You have no idea whether you’ll ever get your degree. You’re far too busy doing other stuff.

At least seven. Dad’s footing the bill.

Four years. If you work hard and don’t hang out in the pub too much, you should be alright.

Five years. There’s no reason why you can’t take a year off halfway through.

Five years. Nothing wrong with dropping the ball now and then when you’re having fun.

It’s your turn to cook dinner at your student house. What’s your approach?

Usually, it’s Mum or Dad who cooks dinner at my ‘student house’.

You treat your housemates to deep-fried grasshopper. Let’s see if they’re as tasty as they are when you buy them from a Bangkok street vendor.

A sachet of instant mashed potatoes, a tin of green beans and a schnitzel. What’s not to like?

You can cook up that simple yet amazingly delicious spaghetti Bolognese by Jamie Oliver in a jiffy.

A glass of beer equals two slices of bread. Solid food is overrated.

You get some nice rolls from that hip new sandwich shop on the corner. After all, time is money.
