Emeritus Professor Wiek Slagter passes away

Professor Wiek Slagter passed away on 29 December at the age of 92. In his capacity as a Professor of International Private Law and Corporate Law, Mr Slagter was affiliated with Erasmus University’s Faculty of Law from 1963 to 1989. In addition to the Erasmus School of Law, he taught at the Erasmus School of Economics and the Rotterdam School of Management.
Mr Slagter continued to be involved with the ESL after his retirement. The Faculty of Law celebrated his ninetieth birthday in 2013 by hosting a symposium in his name. “Wiek Slagter taught and inspired many generations of students. We will remember his creativity, energy and humour,” his colleagues wrote on ESL’s website.
A service will be held for Mr Slagter at the Hoflaan Church in Rotterdam on 7 January.
