More preliminary enrolments at EUR

The number of preliminary enrolments at EUR for academic year 2016-2017 is higher than last year. Last year, 7,833 students registered. This year there are 9,052 registrations; an increase of 16 per cent.
This increase means that EUR is above the national average of 11 per cent. The number of preliminary enrolments increased even more at the Universities of Nijmegen, Tilburg and Twente only, with respectively 27, 23 and 22 per cent. The entire increase is not surprising because the student loan system was introduced for the first time in 2015-2016; it then became less attractive for students to study.
This still says little about the actual number of new students at EUR. Not all preliminary enrollers actually start the programme. For example, they may still fail their exams or decide to take a year out. They can also enrol for multiple studies.
