EM TV newsflash: Porn in Pavilion, no joint Eurekaweek and highest interest rate for student debt in decades
An overview of the most important news from Erasmus University. This week: two scientists presented their porn research in a tightly secured seminar. A joint Eurekaweek is off the table and the interest rate on student debt is the highest in two decades.
There was extra security present in the Erasmus Pavilion during a sold-out seminar called Let’s talk about porn. Two ESSB scientists who are researching different stereotypes in pornography, found that most people prefer to watch videos in which the sex between the actors is equal.
Not everyone is happy with the research: a few students find it inappropriate that the university is spending money on porn research. Last year, a similar seminar even led to questions in the House of Representatives. So this time there were extra security guards and attendees had to show their ID. No incidents happened.
There will be no joint introduction week for mbo, hbo and university students In Rotterdam. Mbo institutions say they have no need for one. And the interest rate on student debt is the highest it has been in seventeen year: almost 2.7 per cent. The total student debt is now 28 billion euros.
