Tips from older students for first years: ‘Go partying, even though it might cost you a few grades’
Thousands of incoming first-years are preparing to battle their first year at the Erasmus University. From party tips to study advise: older students give tips to survive the year: “Talk to older students. It’s easier to deal with all the stress of you know that they also struggled when they were in their first year.”

“Older students can tell you much more about the programme and what the professors are like. It makes you feel more prepared and less insane”, says a second-year econometrics student. “Plus, you build connections.” Another student says: “Really start on time with looking for accommodation.” He couldn’t find any before the start of the year and went back and forth between Paris and Rotterdam for half a year. “It was thought. You miss out on a lot of experiences during the weekend.”
Another student thinks balance is key: “Go partying. Even though it might cost you a few grades. The year is over before you know it, so enjoy the moment.”
