Dispuut De Raad joins Movember campaign for the tenth time
Dispuut De Raad of student association RSG is once again taking part in Movember, raising awareness for men’s health. This year, the group aims to set a record, hoping to collect 10,000 euros for prostate and testicular cancer research, as well as promoting awareness around men’s mental health.

This year marks the tenth time that De Raad is participating in Movember, the annual campaign focused on research into prostate and testicular cancer and tackling the stigma surrounding men’s mental health. The events are being organised by seven members of the fraternity, led by Movember student ambassador Youri Kuhn, a second-year Business Administration student.
“This year, we’re all going all-out to grow an impressive moustache. Though I have to admit, I’ll be lucky if I get three hairs”, jokes Youri. “But hey, every millimetre counts for a good cause.”
In total, 31 members are actively participating, with everyone at the association encouraging family and friends to donate. This year, De Raad’s Movember focus is on the taboo surrounding men’s mental health. “That stigma stops many men from sharing their feelings, despite the fact that men account for the majority of suicides worldwide”, says Youri.
He hopes the campaign will contribute to greater awareness. Funds raised will go to research into prostate and testicular cancer, diseases for which few treatment options are currently available.
Beer and football
Throughout the month, various events will be held. De Raad is organising a party night featuring stick-on moustaches and donation challenges among members, as well as selling craft beers and gift packs from brewery De Snor, with all proceeds going to charity. The three-packs include two regular beers in the dispuut’s colours and De Kale Snor, a low-alcohol beer specially made for cancer patients.
On 20 November, a charity match will be held with Creators FC, a football team featuring Dutch YouTubers, open to all. Donations can be made via the Movember website. Last year, the members raised 9,000 euros. With a bit of luck, a good moustache, and the collective effort of the association, they hope to raise a record 10,000 euros this year and help build awareness around Movember – one moustache at a time.
