Students’ Cookbook: Dobrú chut’! Burgers in a Slovak household
In the Students’ Cookbook, students share their favourite recipes in front of the camera. In this episode, Jakub, Tomas, and Martin prepare burgers together.
Jakub, Tomas, and Martin are master’s students. They all grew up in Slovakia and met each other during their first year when they were living in the Hatta building. After living together in their second year, they decided to continue their Slovak household after returning from exchange in their third year.
“I am juggling some balls right now!”, Jakub jokingly says while preparing the burger patties. A dish they chose because it’s easy to prepare, as Tomas says: “It’s not rocket science, right?” Having fun while cooking is something that naturally comes to the Slovak friends, and might be fuelled by Jakub’s unique laugh. He’s also the one voted as the best chef of the household.
Despite being from Slovakia, Slovak dishes are not on top of the list when it comes to choosing a dish. However, Martin vividly remembers that one of his friends had seventeen raw fašírky (Slovak meatballs). “I cannot even describe the sound of what happened after”, Martin states laughingly, referring to the fact that the meatballs are only safe to consume when fried.

- 20 g cheddar cheese
