In Memoriam: Jan Siebrand
It is with great sadness that the management team of Erasmus School of Economics learned of the death of Prof. Jan Siebrand on 10 May 2022. Jan worked at Erasmus School of Economics as Professor of Macroeconomics from January 1970 to September 2000.

As a macroeconomist, Jan Siebrand’s research included a study of economic policy in the United States. Together with Prof. Otto Swank, he published a paper in the Journal of Macroeconomics about the differences between Democratic and Republican governments in their views on inflation.
Otto Swank remembers Siebrand as a colleague who was good at bringing together people from very different backgrounds and making them into a solid team. “He hired people who at first glance did not immediately fit together, but in practice under his leadership complemented each other very well. That was a real quality and one of his nicest features.”
Our condolences go out to Jan’s family. We wish them much strength.
On behalf of the management team of Erasmus School of Economics,
Patrick Groenen, dean Erasmus School of Economics
