Campus pond has sprung a leak; cause is being determined
The pond on the Woudestein Campus began to leak in the early summer. An EUR spokesperson has explained that space has emerged between two pond’s concrete walls. As a result, water is leaking into the soil.

There is currently a team on campus to test the soil near the pond. “We want to know where exactly the leak is, what caused it and where the water is flowing. And we’re monitoring the composition of the soil, as well,” said the spokesperson. “We’ll probably have to empty the pond to make repairs.”
Dead ducks
The spokesperson was quick to emphasise that the flora and fauna in and around the pond will be monitored, too. Two dead ducks have been found in the pond in the last few days. The spokesperson believes that the deaths are not likely to have been caused by the leak. “After all, ducks can fly away and find a spot in another nearby pond.”
