Ranking the University

As international students, you chose Rotterdam for your studies based on information you had beforehand. While being here, your opinion on living and studying in Rotterdam may have changed, for the better or the worse. The university wants to know and asks you to participate in the International Student Barometer (ISB).

Two years ago, the EUR decided to join the ISB in order to gain insight into how international students experience their stay in Rotterdam. In the ISB, international students of around a hundred universities around the globe are asked about their universities

Good and bad results

By comparing the results a university ranking emerges. The results for the EUR the past two years have been both good and bad but the university’s overall ranking has not been very high. It appeared that education and teachers at the EUR are good but in other areas there was, and probably still is, room for improvement.

Improvements 

Many things have already improved since the ISBs started. The introduction of the official welcome event for international students is an example. Also, the housing situation has improved and the university has started to manage better students’ expectations prior to arriving. In other words, the answers in the ISB questionnaires from students in the past two years have resulted in improvements enjoyed by you today.

‘Dutch experience’

But the university is keen to improve the ‘Dutch experience’ even further. Your answers will make for better study and living experiences of students in the next terms and years. Your opinion matters. Therefore, please participate in the next round of the ISB and let the university know what you think.
