Your online lectures are coordinated from this situation room
Now that nearly all the buildings on campus have closed their doors, the situation room has moved to the Community for Learning and Innovation (CLI), which is situated in the Polak Building. Media Support Centre’s Pjotr van Baarle shows us what the temporary situation room looks like.
Two hundred lectures per day

“On average, some two hundred lectures are taught each day, both from the campus and from lecturers’ own homes,” says Pjotr van Baarle. Lecturers who teach their classes from their own homes use Panopto software, which allows them to do things such as display slides during their lectures. “All our online classes require technical support, and we’re providing that support from this room.”
In the situation room we find IT technical support officer Nolan, who has worked for EUR’s Technical Support Centre for the last five years. He is the one who ensures that things go off without a hitch and answers questions about the technical aspects of online teaching. When we visit, three lectures are being recorded. “Here on campus we record lectures in the Theil, Sanders and Van der Goot Buildings,” Van Baarle tell us.
