Limited places at graduation ceremonies: ‘I wish I could have brought more family members’
Faculties have a limited number of places per student at graduation ceremonies. Who is allowed to attend and who has to stay at home? Some students managed to bring an entire team, as became clear at the IBACS and History ceremonies.

“We were allowed to bring four people”, says Dina, who is graduating from the International Bachelor of Arts and Culture Studies (IBACS). That was not enough for her, so she posted several times in her programme’s group chat to ask whether anyone had extra tickets. “Eventually, someone took pity on me and gave me their tickets. So now I’m here with eight people.”
Her friend Evalina, also an IBACS student, was unable to obtain extra tickets for the ceremony: “That’s why my family is watching the livestream from the restaurant. We’ll meet there after the ceremony. I wish I could have brought more family members.”
