EUR offers alternatives for hacked Canvas
Educational software Canvas will remain offline for EUR students for a while. Study material and communication between students and teachers should be handled via Microsoft Teams. For submitting assignments and exams the university will offer ANS for the time being.

The university made this decision based on advice from security experts at the Dutch universities and the ongoing forensic investigation at Canvas supplier Instructure.
Refuge
To prevent students and teachers from turning to external software, the university will shortly offer alternatives: Microsoft Teams for providing study material and for communication, and ANS for submitting assignments and exams.
Teams is already used by many staff for internal communication and audio and video calls. ANS should already be familiar to many students as software for taking exams.
The platforms are not yet available. Once they are, students and staff will be informed by email and via MyEUR.
How long Canvas will remain offline is unknown. There may be another update from the university on Tuesday. On that day the stolen data of students and staff may also be made public by the hackers. As a result the risk of phishing increases.
