Unions: 9 December demonstration against the ‘demolition’ of higher education
About a hundred academics gathered on Monday evening at Domplein in Utrecht to watch the EenVandaag election debate. The unions immediately announced a new protest: a strike on Tuesday 9 December.

Teachers and researchers wanted to make their presence felt before the elections, said WOinActie and the unions AOb and FNV beforehand. Despite the bad weather, around a hundred people came to Domplein in Utrecht on Monday.
A large tent had been set up where everyone could follow the election debate on screens. Beforehand, there were a few speakers, including representatives from GroenLinks-PvdA, D66 and SP. A discussion followed afterwards.
The unions announced a new protest. On Tuesday 9 December they will go on strike and demonstrate in Amsterdam. Their demand: the next government must reverse the cuts and instead invest more in education and science.
