One student encouraged the use of budgeting apps and spreadsheets. “With Dyme you can easily see how much money you’ve spend today.” Another student said: “I use Excel, and I get weekly check-ups of my spending on Revolut.”

“I definitely choose cheap”, says an international student. When shopping for groceries, she recommends Lidl. “That will be the cheapest one.”

Another budgeting tip is about where you choose to eat food. “I definitely recommend not to eat out. It’s very important to cook at home.” A Dutch student suggests some meals you can cook at home. “Good pasta bolognese, some Mexican foods, just stuff with a lot of vegetables.”
